Sean Combs, aka “Puffy” or “Puff Daddy,” a 31-year-old
best-selling rapper and top producer with his own record label and
clothing line, was found not guilty of weapons and bribery charges
stemming from a fracas in a Manhattan nightclub Dec. 27, 1999. While not
accused of shooting anyone, Combs faced 15 years in jail if convicted of
illegal gun possesion and bribery for allegedly trying to get his
driver, Wardel Fenderson, to claim ownership of the weapon when police
found it in Combs’ chauffeured Lincoln Navigator. His bodyguard
Anthony “Wolf” Jones faced similar charges. Combs maintained his
innocence on all charges, taking the witness stand in his own defense.
